Sudden call ・ Beware of door-to-door water heater inspections

The city's Consumer Affairs Center has received a number of calls from people who thought they were being contacted by the manufacturer of the water heater they had installed or a business they were familiar with in their neighborhood and promised to inspect the unit.

To avoid becoming a consumer victim, take the following actions when you receive a sudden phone call ・ or visit.
・ Do not easily promise an inspection, but contact the manufacturer who installed the equipment or a business you are familiar with.
・ If you have promised an inspection, call their contact number to decline.
・ If you have made an appointment but do not know their contact number or cannot get through to them, do not speak directly with the visiting business, but speak through the intercom. If there is no intercom, do not open the door and decline. If they are too persistent, tell them that you will call the police.

If you receive a phone call about a water heater inspection, never deal with the caller and ignore it.
